Mother’s Day, Pink Drinks & a Quiet Invitation to Pause

May 03, 2025

As Mother’s Day approaches, I want to offer a heartfelt note to every woman who nurtures, carries, comforts, and shows up for others—often while putting herself last.

Whether you're a mum, step-mum, grandmother, or the steady emotional anchor in your family, you deserve to be honoured. Not with clichés or polished packaging—but in a way that actually feels good, grounded, and true.

And yet, if you look around, you'll notice something about how Mother’s Day is being presented to us.

There are wine-themed pyjamas stacked neatly on shelves.
Cards that joke about “mum juice” and wine being the reward for raising children.
Bouquets of flowers that can be “upgraded” with a bottle of champagne.
Pretty pink bottles of alcohol styled like self-care essentials.
Restaurants offering a free glass of bubbly to celebrate you.

It’s subtle. It’s stylish. And it’s everywhere.

This isn’t about judgment. I am not being preachy teachy. I’m not here to tell you what you should or shouldn’t do. But I do think it’s worth gently noticing how deeply alcohol is woven into how we’re taught to relax, cope, and reward ourselves—especially as women.

If you’ve been questioning your relationship with alcohol, or simply feeling tired of the cycle, this kind of messaging can feel particularly loud and isolating.

So here’s a quiet invitation:

What if this year, you chose something different?

What if instead of pouring another glass, you poured into yourself?

What if this Mother's Day was the start of a gentler, more grounded way forward—where you feel clear in the morning, proud of your choices, and more like yourself again?

Let’s make this Mother’s Day about more than champagne and chocolates.
Let’s make it about clarity, connection, and the kind of self-celebration that actually lasts.

You deserve that—and so much more.

With warmth,
Belinda
